Cases from practice

Small mistakes with big consequences. First three real cases, anonymised; then typical situations the data check helps you catch in time.

Real cases, anonymised

Wrong phone number

A complaint filed with the prosecutor’s office. They tried to call the complainant – the number had been entered wrongly. The complaint was shelved.

What FetchJ does: Flags the different phone number of the same person in another document – you have it corrected with the court.

Wrong e-mail address

After a complaint, a protection order was issued; a statement was required within 10 days. The summons went to a misspelt e-mail address. No statement – case closed, order lifted, no way to reopen it. He found out six months later.

What FetchJ does: Flags the e-mail address that does not match the other documents – you ask for the correction before the deadline runs.

Nine years for nothing

A corruption trial against a public official, after nine years of postponed hearings. The summons for the key witness went to wrong contact details. The witness did not appear – the case ended for lack of evidence.

What FetchJ does: Flags the witness’s contact details that do not match – you tell the court before the hearing.

Typical situations

Two digits swapped

The defendant’s ID number appears with two digits swapped in the ruling that orders the summons. The summons does not arrive, the hearing is postponed, and the case waits months for a new date.

What FetchJ does: Compares the ID number across all documents of the case and shows you the one that differs.

A week apart

The ruling sets the hearing for 12 November; the notification says 19 November. Whoever trusts the notification arrives when the hearing has already taken place.

What FetchJ does: Puts both dates side by side in the data check for the calendar; you choose the correct one.

The address from three years ago

A new document shows an old address of the party. Notifications in person go to a house where nobody lives any more.

What FetchJ does: Shows that the address differs from the one in more recent documents.

The deadline that ends sooner

A deadline of three working days runs from the notification. If two documents give different notification dates, the deadline may end a day earlier than you thought.

What FetchJ does: Points out the different date and proposes the deadline from the earlier date – you decide.

A document that never arrives

Before the trial, the portal does not deliver a key document – a server error, again and again. Nobody notices until the hearing.

What FetchJ does: Marks it as “not downloadable” and prepares a neutral report for the court or the system administrator.

One person, two names

The same witness appears as “Rodríguez” in one document and as “Rodrigues” in another. In the case file they look like two different people.

What FetchJ does: Shows both entries side by side so you can confirm the correct one.

A single dispute between neighbours: 31 cases, 2,880 documents, almost 15,000 pages. Complex cases exceed 15,000 pages in a single file. Nobody checks every ID number, every e-mail and every phone number by hand.

The typical situations are examples to explain the feature; the real cases are anonymised. FetchJ points things out – checking and deciding is always up to you.
