Security and privacy

Your case files are yours. Full stop.

FetchJ is built for lawyers who do not want to trust blindly. Here is exactly what it does – and what it does not.

Open source to check

The source code of FetchJ is published on GitHub, without the licence check module. Anyone – you, your technician or a colleague – can check that FetchJ stores no passwords and transmits no case data. Link: github.com/fetchj/FetchJ-Source

No passwords

You log in in the portal window. FetchJ never types, reads or stores your user name, password or security code. The login assistant clicks at most up to the login screen.

Nothing without your consent

FetchJ has no server of its own for your case files: documents go straight from the portal to your computer. FetchJ fetches data – also automatically – but never sends anything by itself. A licence request, a support package or a handover to an AI only leaves with your click.

No session traces

Tokens, cookies and session data are used in memory only and never written to logs or reports.

Untouched documents

FetchJ never changes a downloaded document. Every download is logged; nothing is overwritten.

No hidden AI

The analysis uses rules only, on your computer. If you want to hand a case to an AI, FetchJ anonymises it on your computer first and sends it only with your confirmation. Handing case files to an AI is your responsibility (professional secrecy, your clients’ consent).

Cleaned support data

If you ask for support, you decide what is sent. The package is cleaned first: no credentials, party names or case numbers.

Which data we process – and which we do not

Your case files and documentsNever. They stay on your computer.
Portal user name, password, codeNever.
For the licence: name, cédula, phone or SINPE, e-mail and technical check values of the computerYes, only with your request, to grant and check the licence and for the invoice (Ley 8968).
Support dataOnly if you send it – you decide what is sent; it is cleaned first.
Log filesFully anonymised: no passwords, tokens, session data or names of parties.

The principles we work by

Ley 8968 (Costa Rica)

Protection of persons in the processing of their data: prior information, consent, rights of access, correction and deletion.

GDPR (EU)

Data minimisation, privacy by design and by default, purpose limitation.

US practice

Transparency and user choice following the Fair Information Practice Principles (FIPPs) and the NIST Privacy Framework.

ISO/IEC 27001

Information security: protection of credentials, logs without sensitive data and data-leak prevention.

ISO/IEC 27701

Privacy management: a clear purpose, as little data as possible, the rights of the people concerned and a record of every processing.

ISO/IEC 27017 and 27018

Security in the cloud and protection of personal data in the cloud – for our licence server, which stores licence data only, never case files.

FetchJ is not certified; these principles guide its design. You protect your computer: Windows password, disk encryption and backups.

Install without worry

  • The installer comes only from the official FetchJ download page.
  • “Just for me” needs no administrator rights.
  • Prefer to try it calmly first? Install it under a second Windows user or on another computer.
  • We help you install it for free: together, step by step, you see everything.
  • Uninstalls like any program; your case files stay in your folder.
